| Recently there was an event regarding Aion's 3rd anniversary where players could submit a sang song or written poem. The top 5 entries per country would win a shugo plush, 16 Gigabyte Aion USB Stick and an Art Book (the latter is why I participated, I'm a huge Aion fan). Since my voice sounds like a croak having a flu I decided to try my best at writing. Today, one week later, I got the following message in my inbox: - Quote :
- Congratulations Hyzarth!
We are glad announce that your entry was selected as one of the 5 winners! In order to send you your reward, we need you to send us your complete address where you will get your prize. Your Shugo plush is waiting for you!
Best Regards.- Your AION Europe Team To celebrate this I want to share my poem here for everyone to read. Thanks to those who gave their feedback on it when I wrote it, I really appreciate it and think you play a big part in this victory. I basically came up with the idea of a new player travelling across the lands in search of Aion to pay his respects, but it by no means was intended to sound like a religious poem. I tried describing all major locations in Elysea in an appealing way while maintaining the rhyme scheme (which wasn't easy at times..) There are also some cryptic/hidden references to Aion places not directly mentioned in the poem, see if you can find them. Enjoy - Quote :
- Birthday Journey
As d’Atreian nights fall,
and the seasonal agrints rise up tall.
While in the distant Abyss the war drums roar;
The Drakan, flocking in numbers,
Only to be stopped by our loyal warriors
Taking up arms, rising from their slumbers.
As a boy with white hair attempts to waken,
In the sun blessed present of a future long forsaken,
So begins a journey for him, anew.
One that will take him through many places – some only witnessed by a selected few.
Standing up at the place where it all began,
The trinity watching over the rise of this young man.
With nothing but a mace to wield,
But already eagerly running off to drive the Kerubi from the distant field.
Venturing into the depths of the Timola Mine,
Heeding the governor’s call,
Travelling to the Verteron coastline,
On the way, teaching a lesson to the Tursin Krall.
Travelling through Eltnen’s desert and beyond,
Fighting at the remainder of the forest’s front.
Diving through the rift to Morheim’s icy field,
Exploring the tip of a world that had yet to be revealed.
Flying over Heiron’s ruins of past glory,
Wandering through the undead’s territory.
Swimming through the silent seas of Alukina’s palace,
All the way to the hidden secrets of the Esoterrace.
The days pass, the seasons fade
The timer approaching three;
Young Elyos, hurry is to be made.
Head to the Abyss, search for the ruler’s trace,
Don’t fall before the Asmodian’s disapproving gaze.
Secure the Wings, cut it free from the Balaur's strings
Secure the Trinity, let this glory last for eternity.
Descend the root; head to the Core.
Once there, just as the timer hits midnight,
The young Elyos feels a feint presence of his might,
Kneeling down, he tells tells the words I now recite:
"After all my journeys, I have come here with one thing to say:
Aion .. Happy Birthday."

| My sincere congratulations, dear brother! I really had no doubt about it, they would have been fools to let this masterpiece slip by. I'd give you the biggest hug ever if I could but since it's a bit impossible, I'll just wait for you to log in... | |

Oh believe me, I have had doubts about it -- to the point where I even sent an additional mail to rectify two spelling errors since I was afraid it would blow my chances to zero. I'm signing on to collect those hugs now, so best be ready. But, it's flattering to know that something I personally deem 'mediocre' or 'acceptable' is considered a masterpiece to others.

| When I came home today a package I have eagerly been expecting for a while was waiting for me on my doorstep .. it was from "GameForge" .. wonder what this could be ?? x] And this is what was inside: - 1x Aion Presentation Booklet with CD-Rom (probably the client, will find out this weekend)
- 1x Huggable / Cute / Fluffy Plush Shugo (Which I will give a great place and keep near me when I play Aion)
- 1x Aion 16 GB USB-Stick (Will be put in immediate use starting next week )
- And as a secret bonus .. a parchment with a redeem code for an in-game Shugo pet!!
(Which was .. words fail to describe .. *-* Absolutely Awesome Amazing comes close to it.)
Needless to say, I was stuck with this childish grin / feeling of happiness for the rest of the day (still am). For a gamer, and a writer, it's wonderful to see your effort rewarded with something that is a 100% match to your interests. Has got to be one of the best days this year

| I swear, that shugo is the cutest plushie I've ever seen. Kinda makes me regret I didn't apply in the contest, but then again, I'm no poet ^^. I'm curious what's written in that booklet. The lore? Hidden legends you can't find in the Library of Sages? Can't wait to hear about it. I'm so happy for you, you definitely deserve it! -hug- | |

haha nothing that breathtaking I am afraid xD It starts with an article about the pay-to-play -> free-to-play conversion, an interview with the Aion-Team, and then the background on Atreia, the Races, the Classes, and also a bit about the capital cities, instances, crafting, PvP and Pets. Although the English is flawed (as in, many spelling mistakes) the amazing art and layout provided on each page more than compensates for it As for the CD, it turns out it is a PressKit It has screenshots, wallpapers, renders (great for signatures) art works, trailers, press releases, Q&A -- the interesting part is that some of these I have never seen before so are rather exclusive. Also, I am not a poet either Don't forget that writing is something you do because it's fun, so next time if you feel like writing a poem / story and are unsure -- just do it. It's fun, and if you win something with it that's a bonus
